Résumé Analyse financière d’ExxonMobil Résumé

Financial analysis of exxonmobil

exxonmobil is one of the rare modern companies already in oil activity in the nineteenth century. With the Benelux countries, the roots of the current organization are in Antwerp and Rotterdam like in the United States, where John D. Rockefeller had created in 1882 the Standard Oil Company, the legal predecessor of current exxonmobil. Three commercial firms, Horstmann & Co. in Rotterdam like Frederic Speth & Co. and Graf & Maquinay in Antwerp imported at the time of the oil paraffin of the Standard Oil via the firm Stursberg, an intermediary of businesses. March 11th, 1891, these five companies created a new association, American Petroleum Company (APC), which had an office in Antwerp and Rotterdam. The three firms of importation shared their tankers, their installations of storage and their offices. The starting capital rose to five million guilders. There were on the whole 100 actions, whose Standard Oil Company did not have the majority besides. The firm employed 20 people.

Its creation date still makes of exxonmobil the oldest oil company of the Benelux countries currently operating on the local market.

In 1911, the American Supreme court ordered the division of the monopoly of Rockefeller. So several Standard Oils were created. One of them, the Standard Oil off New Jersey (or Jersey Standard), continued the activities of APC to the Benelux countries. During three decades, APC will remain a company of the Benelux countries (as from 1902, of the oil products were also sold in Luxembourg). In 1920, the subsidiary companies Dutchwomen and Belgo-Luxembourg of Jersey Standard followed each one their way. This situation continued until half of the Eighties, when the organizations Esso Belgium, Esso Nederland and Esso Luxembourg were joined together.
Another successor of the Standard Oil Company, the Standard Oil of New York or SOCONY, found himself a few decades later also with the Benelux countries under the name of Mobil Oil. Fusion between Esso (Exxon in the United States) and Mobil gave Exxon Mobil in the month of December 1999, thus again brought together two important heirs to the oil empire of Rockefeller.
