Individuals living in todays modern world have differing opinions concerning the so-called advantages of new technology that is available to us. Some are pro- innovation and believe that it has had a positive effect on our lives, while others believe that new technology has negatively influenced our existence. One such advance which has become extremely popular, but quite controversial is the use of e-mail. Some people, such as writers Judith Kleinfeld, Ed Boland, and Nicholas Negroponte argue that the use of e-mail has made our lives simpler in many ways. This includes the ability to be asynchronous, a simpler and less unpleasant way to give and receive bad news, and less of a commitment in romantic relationships. On the other hand, those on the side of writer Rob Nixon would agree that email has become too convenient to the point that it takes away crucial time from our busy lives that should be spent by our engaging in other activities.

In recent news, Polner writes Linden Corrica lost his freedom and his life in New York over $10 worth of marijuana. Corrica is an immigrant who lived in New York with his wife and kids. He was one day caught with a small ten dollar bag of marijuana, and pleaded guilty. He spent 20 days in jail, which wasnt terrible. However, when he got out, he was sent to the immigration center and was to be deported away from his family. Corrica is not the only one to lose so much over so little. People are constantly being arrested, fined and reported for using marijuana. This is because of the current war on drugs. There is a strong anti-marijuana stigma, which dates back to the early 1900s. The stigma is backed by twisted statistics, faulty scientific evidence and propaganda. The anti-drug war is fueled efficiently in this way. The drug is not yet legal because it would create competition for large businesses and it is still considered dangerous. Marijuana and Hemp, the plant from which it is derived, should be legalized because it is a relatively harmless drug, an effective medication and would be beneficial to the economy.
- There are many myths that date back from earlier years, but the truth is scientifically simple and easily refutes the myths.
- Despite this overwhelming scientific evidence, myths from as early as the start of the 1900s continue to dominate our beliefs due to propaganda.
- Anslinger was the first of the Drug Czars. After him, the war on marijuana continued, and the anti-marijuana sentiment grew.
- The US currently has two intoxicating drugs that are legal.
- The legalization of marijuana and hemp, the plant from which it is derived, would yield great profits.
- Despite the large amount of benefits legalizing marijuana may introduce, the anti-marijuana war continues with zeal.
- Marijuana, a relatively harmless drug with a huge potential to heal people and improve the economy, is currently being battled by the government.

After completing my analysis of eBay, I have come to several conclusions that I would like to share with you. First, I will outline the problems that eBay and the rest of the online auction industry will face in the future. Then I will discuss my analysis and evaluation of eBay within the industry. Finally, I will conclude with some specific recommendations that eBay should take advantage of in the future.
The online auction industry is a huge market, but the growth is slowing down. In 1999, U.S. e-commerce revenue accounted for 65% of the total amount. In 2003, it had declined to only 38%. It is becoming more and more saturated with new entrants due to the low entry barriers.

In March 2005, the UN released its Millennium Ecosystem Assessment , the first comprehensive scientific audit of the state of the planet. Completed over four years by 2,000 experts, the survey demonstrates that economic activity has destroyed 60% of the Earths life-supporting ecosystems, threatening humanitys ability to sustain its standards of living. Thus, even though the Industrial Revolution has brought about a tremendous rise in the standards of living of most in the Western World, and although globalization is spreading this wealth to an increasing number of people in the developing world, a growing number of worrisome environmental trends suggest that our current economic model is not sustainable in the medium- to short- run.
