Résumé :
As managers and leaders, one of the main qualities employers look for, when they hire us, is our ability to make decisions.
The decision making skill is not something equal among people, and the way to decide things vary depending on the personality and personal experience of each individual.
The decision making is the outcome resulting of a mental process which leads to the selection of actions courses among several alternatives with the final purpose to produce a choice or establish an opinion. (Wikipédia, 2008)
A decision making is possible through 5 steps:
1. Problem definition
2. Potential problem causes
3. Identification of the alternatives
4. Approaches selection to solve the problem
5. Choice and implementation of the best alternative
Thought this paper, I will follow the decision making process to formulate my opinion concerning the best way to increase the output quality of a decision making, based on my observations of the class projects and the cognitive element acquired within the class.
In a first part, I will give an overview of the different theories allowing us to understand how a
decision is made and why (Problem definition and potential causes) and in a second part I will link them to the observation made during the projects presentation made in class (alternatives resolve the problem). To conclude, I will suggest what I consider as the best way to make decision (choice of the best alternative).
