Résumé
Ode to love and requiem for war, the incantatory threnody of hiroshima mon amour lulls the senses and the spirit of the spectator grabbed by the literary and cinematographic poesy fruit of the collaboration between the writer Marguerite Duras and the cineaste Alain Resnais. Rewarded the year of its release by the Prix International de la Critique during the Festival de Cannes as well as the Prix Méliès, the masterpiece has not always been judged at his true worth since the commentators have often restricted their interpretation to the love intrigue instead of reading a meditation about remembering and forgetting. It is a questioning about the representability of memory conjugated on collective and individual angles alike. In accordance with the thematic studied in class, namely the complicated interrelationship between cinema, memory and history, the interrogations hereafter surveyed will look into the mnemonic processes both on macro and micro social scales, that is to say at the levels of a nation and a person...
