Résumé :

Located on the KU campus, in 145 Strong Hall, in the multicultural building, the office of multicultural affairs (OMA) has the main function of enhancing the educational opportunities of all students. A certain interest is granted to African American, Asian American, Hispanic American and Native American students (multicultural affairs website). It's an Organization for students of all minorities represented in the US.
the OMA's motto is, "We are one community." This means they strive to create relationships between students of different cultures by providing atmosphere of which helps students succeed academically. In order to develop this relationship, appreciation of other cultures is encouraged (multicultural affairs website). the OMA has also the special function of trying to keep students from dropping out of college.
We chose the OMA for our research topic because the United States of America is a sort of "salad bowl". In the U.S. different minorities live together and try to co-exist, much like the diverse vegetables in the salad. We feel this organization is proof of this diversity. We want to understand the role that the office plays at KU and if it is a benefit for all the students, whatever minorities they belong to. We wondered, "Is it an important organization at KU?" "Does it reflect diversity in kansas and also in the US?" This is what we explain through our research.
