Résumé :
The United nations Development programme was created on January the 1st in 1966, by the resolution 1029 of the General Assembly of the United nations, which combined the Expanded programme of Technical Assistance and the United nations Special Fund. This programme, headquartered in New-York City, has country offices in 166 countries. Its major aim is to help the developing countries by supplying them advice and by pleading their cause for the granting of donations.
The Democratic Republic of congo is an interesting case to study. Indeed, this country has been facing for two decades a structural crisis in economic and social spheres which has generated armed conflicts since 1993. In spite of these successive wars in DRC, the UNDP has never interrupted its assistance there. It has developed an emergency programme which aims to strengthen and reinforce peace. DRC is a developing country which needs the framework of the UNDP in order to stabilize and reach prosperity.
I am going to see to what extent the UNDP is one of the most important international institutions tackling the huge issue of development in the World.
By development I mean the sustainable improvement in several spheres such as the ecological sphere, the human sphere and the economic sphere (Hattingh, 2004). On the one hand, I will study the United nations Development programme. On the other hand, I will study the specific case of Democratic Republic of congo, dealing with the UNDP in the DRC.
