Résumé :
The race relations in a country are often problematic, United Kingdom and france are not exceptions about it, even if for a long time Great Britain was considered as a model to reconcile races in a state. It's why this subject is very interesting, as you will see in this synthesis which will make a comparison between the French and Britain press.
Different ways to select the subjects
We can easily notice that press in both countries is very different. Newspapers in Great Britain are more specific to a domain, it can be the economical field, the political one, or any other; and they will talk about different things and events related to the different domains to which they are devotes without apparent relations between the different subjects chosen by the different newspapers; whereas in france one event will be often covered by all the press. It's obvious in the articles which talk about the French suburbs or about the reform on ethnic statistics.
We can also notice that Great Britain is more attracted by surveys and reports than france, used to reading newspapers keeping its opinion in its mind, and preferring to read certified writers-redactors' texts rather than simple citizens' opinions. Articles number 4, 5, and 6 show this Britain attraction for surveys and reports.
Different assumptions
We can also notice that ideas associated with the idea of racism vary from one country to another. When in france people relate the word "racism" to the words "suburbs" and "insecurity" as we can see in a lot of articles from United Kingdom the same as in france, notably in the ninth article; in Great Britain people relates this same word to the words "religion" and "terrorism" particularly since the 11th of September 2001 and especially concerning the Muslim religion as the articles number 7 and 8 show us.
