Résumé :

This document is an extract of the book Everyday life through the ages written by asa briggs and published in 1992. In this book, the author relates the way of living according to the different centuries. It is important to understand in what approach she tackles the American and French Revolution. Indeed the text deals with American and French revolutions. But the aim isn't to relate the events or to make a chronology of this period. In fact the text presents the social and ideological approach of the revolutions. What revolution means in the everyday life? What was the social impact of revolutions, what ideas were claimed? This text tries to answer to these questions. Moreover, and to my mind principally, the aim is to compare French Revolution with American one. The fact that France took place in the American War with Lafayette is the beginning of relations between France and US. I think that we can tackle the following question : On what points American and French revolutions were united and what were the main differences between them? So I will argue with three parties : first we will see what we can call American and French revolution the « sisters » ; then we will see that nevertheless French revolution was a unique experience and finally I will present the supranational impacts of both revolutions.
