Electronic business system : tabou case study (titre original)
tabou is a newly created company and operates a mail order business which
launches a new on-line service. This company offers to women the possibility to buy several
ranges of famous brands underwear or to customize themselves their underwear. Then, the
company sells the products directly to the customers who order through the company
website. Thus, the on-line company buys women's underwear in bulk, from many famous
underwear companies, such as Aubade, Chantelle, DIM and woks with another supplier for
customized underwear. Besides, it offers to its customers the possibility to virtually try the
underwear. The novelty of tabou is also to allow customers to visualize how underwear fit
them entering their measurements. Thanks to an efficient system, customers will see a very
alike image of themselves. tabou trades only in Euros, since the company sells exclusively
in France.
Statement of the strategic mission
Short-term strategic challenges:
tabou is a start-up company which aims to differentiate from other on-line underwear
companies owing to the first-mover advantage (customization). In a first time, the company
will only focus on the French market. Managers' first strategic challenge is to successfully
launch the new service in France and operates their business profitably.
