SummaryThe Hmong are an Ethnic group native to Asia, specifically Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam, specifically the northern, mountainous areas. They are believed to have existed as a group for at least 7,000 years. Most left those areas in the late 60’s through the late 70’s, after America pulled out of the Vietnam War. During the early 1960’s, when Communist forces first began to infiltrate Laos and Vietnam, the Hmong, being closest to the border, were among the first to be affected—Communist armies marching through forced the Hmong villages to pack up and move so that they could camp there.
